
Wolverines Pummel Purdue on Senior Night

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team jumped out to a 10-2 lead and led by as many as 32 points in an 81-50 win over Purdue on Tuesday night (Feb. 24) at Crisler Center as part of Senior Night.
Senior Nicole Elmblad tied a career high with 19 points while adding five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in 32 minutes of action. Senior Cyesha Goree recorded her 15th double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Freshman Katelynn Flaherty went 5-for-5 from three-point range en route to 19 points. Junior Madison Ristovski scored a season-high 15 points on 7-for-10 shooting off the bench, adding three rebounds and two assists. Michigan shot 53.1 percent (34-for-64) from the floor and outrebounded the Boilers, 39-26.
Michigan jumped out to a 10-2 lead on a pair of Flaherty three-pointers and layups from Goree and Smith just 2:44 into the game.
Michigan increased its lead to 21-8 on the heels of a 7-0 run, capped by a Ristovski lefty layup with 11:31 on the clock as Purdue called timeout. Ristovski beat the shot clock on Michigan's next possession to push the lead to 23-8 at the 10:36 mark.
The Wolverine lead eclipsed the 20-point mark on an Elmblad layup with 4:20 on the clock, as the home team led 38-17. Michigan took its largest lead of the first half on a Ristovski floater with 1:35 to go before the half, putting U-M on top at 48-19.
The Wolverines hit the break with a 48-21 lead, paced by 15 points from Flaherty and 13 from Ristovski. Goree just missed the first-half double-double, finishing with nine points and 10 rebounds in the first 20 minutes. Michigan shot 55.6 percent (20-for-36) from the floor in the first half, including a 50-percent clip (6-for-12) from three-point range. Michigan also outrebounded the Boilers, 22-14, and forced 14 turnovers.
Michigan's lead never dipped below 25 points in the second half, as Elmblad scored 12 second-half points, and Goree added eight in the second. The Wolverines shot 50 percent (14-for-28) in the last 20 minutes of the game, taking the 31-point win.
U-M concludes the regular season on Saturday (Feb. 28) at Illinois. Tip is set for 11 a.m. CST, and the game can be seen live on the Big Ten Network.
