ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Interest in University of Michigan football season tickets has reached peak levels with the department ending availability for the 2015 season at roughly 90,000 tickets sold.
All tickets are sold out for the Michigan State and Ohio State games, while only scattered single tickets remain for Oregon State, Rutgers and Northwestern. Ticket availability is larger for U-M's other home games vs. UNLV (Sept. 19, noon) and BYU (Sept. 26, time TBA).
Michigan ended sales of all season tickets this year at 89,975, the most combined season tickets for U-M since 2012 and a figure that exceeds the stadium capacity for all but 11 other universities. The total includes 72,076 non-student season tickets, the most since 2009, the year before Michigan Stadium's renovation was completed.
Michigan students claimed 17,899 tickets this year, up from 11,597 in 2014. Some of this year's student season tickets were purchased through the department's new financial assistance initiative that was implemented in the spring.
Michigan added 2,147 individuals to its Football Season Ticket Interest List last winter, and everyone on the list was offered tickets for the 2015 season. Nearly 90 percent of that group (1,926) purchased tickets for a total of 4,988 new season tickets.
While season tickets are no longer being offered for 2015, the 2016 Football Season Ticket Interest List is already active, and information can be found online.
Under first year J. Ira and Nikki Harris Family Head Football Coach Jim Harbaugh, the Wolverines will play seven home games this year, starting against Oregon State on Sept. 12. Since 2011, Michigan owns a 23-5 record at the Big House.
