
U-M Opens Split Weekend in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team began a weekend of split-squad competition at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Friday (Jan. 29). Events are being held at the Vanderbilt Multi-purpose Facility, where U-M has a number of sprinters and distance athletes in action this weekend.
DISTANCE
U-M ran the distance medley relay (DMR) for the first time this season, featuring senior Alex Moran (1,200-meter leg), freshman Garrett McPeek (mile leg), senior Phil Washington (400-meter leg), and freshman Jason Ferrante (800-meter leg). The group clocked a time of 10:24.36, but one transition of the baton was dropped.
SPRINTS
In the 200-meter race, junior/sophomore Khoury Crenshaw was runner-up in the second section, running 22.20, while sophomore/freshman John Weeks set a PR and freshman Blake Washington won his heat.
The Wolverines will resume action on Saturday (Jan. 29) at Vanderbilt. Events are slated for 10 a.m. CST, with the first U-M athlete competing in the 3K race at 10:25. The Maize and Blue will also be represented at Saginaw Valley State University's Jets Pizza Invitational, with the running events and pole vault competition beginning at 1 p.m.
