
Nielsen Receives Big Ten Weekly Honor

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Senior Anders Lie Nielsen of the No. 6-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week by the conference office on Wednesday (Feb. 3).
One of the team's three senior captains, Nielsen was instrumental in helping lead the Wolverines to a quad meet victory over Ohio State, Buffalo and West Virginia last Saturday (Jan. 30) in Columbus, Ohio. He won the 200-yard freestyle (1:35.68) and 500-yard freestyle (4:24.13), while also taking third in the 100-yard freestyle (44.28). All three of those times met the NCAA 'B' standard. He also swam a leg on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team (2:56.78).
Currently, Nielsen ranks first in the Big Ten in the 200-yard freestyle, seventh in the 100-yard freestyle and eighth in the 500-yard freestyle.
The Wolverines are back in action on Saturday (Feb. 6), hosting Michigan State at Canham Natatorium. The meet will begin at noon.
