
Schueler Hits Career Mark; Michigan Loses at High Point

» Anna Schueler, who had two goals and a helper on the contest, became the second U-M lacrosse player to score 100 points in their career (75 goals, 25 assists), as she assisted on a Mae Tarr goal at 15:36 of the second half.
» Mira Shane entered in relief midway through the first half and made three saves to keep U-M in the contest as the defense was peppered with 26 High Point shots.
» Kim Coughlan chipped in a pair of scores, while Natalie Carti and Tarr had the other two markers for U-M.

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Despite a career milestone for junior Anna Schueler, the University of Michigan women's lacrosse team fell to High Point, 11-6, on Sunday (March 13) inside HPU's Vert Stadium. With two goals and an assist, Schueler became the second player in program history to record 100 career points.
Michigan went up 2-0 in the early going but then allowed six straight goals and trailed 6-2. U-M then answered back, as Schueler and classmate Kim Coughlan marked scores to bring the count to 6-4, before High Point (3-3) tacked on a tally to lead 7-4 heading into the half.
Outshot 18-6 in the opening half, the Maize and Blue used supreme accuracy, scoring on four of its six shots. The difference was made up in the ground ball category, as the Panthers held a 17-9 advantage.
At the start of the second, Schueler netted her second of the contest on a free position shot 1:01 into the half to bring the Wolverines within two at 7-5. Following a High Point goal, Schueler fed sophomore Mae Tarr at 15:36 in close to bring the score to 8-6.
The Panthers then took over, outscoring U-M 3-0 the rest of the contest. U-M's last hope of the contest was with 7:26 remaining, as Schueler had a goal taken off the board due to an illegal stick due to the rainy conditions.
Junior Allison Silber made six stops in net early before being replaced by freshman Mira Shane midway through the opening half. Shane made several point-blank stops and was credited with a trio of stops. Michigan was outshot 26-17 in all and lost the ground ball battle, 31-22, while turning the ball over 27 times.
