The University of Michigan men's basketball team (20-11, 10-8 B1G) earned the eighth seed at the Big Ten Tournament and a first-round bye. The Wolverines open their postseason against ninth-seeded Northwestern (20-11, 8-10 B1G) in the second round on Thursday (March 10) at noon at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, live on Big Ten Network. If U-M is victorious, the Maize and Blue advances to take on No. 1 seed Indiana on Friday (March 11) at noon on ESPN.
MICHIGAN AT THE BIG TEN TOURNAMENT
Michigan has a 16-17 (12-16*) all-time record at the Big Ten Tournament.
The Big Ten Tournament has rotated sites between Indianapolis, Indiana (Bankers Life Fieldhouse), and Chicago, Illinois (United Center). The Tournament will make appearances in Washington, D.C. (Verizon Center), in 2017 and New York City (Madison Square Garden) in 2018.
Michigan is 9-9 in games played in Indianapolis (Bankers Life Fieldhouse).
Michigan is 7-8 in Chicago (United Center).
Michigan won the inaugural Big Ten Tournament in 1998; however, U-M had the title vacated due to NCAA Sanctions.

U-M coach John Beilein, his staff, the Wolverine players and Maize Rage wore special #ChadTough T-shirts against Purdue (Feb. 13) to help raise awareness for the Chad Tough Foundation.
The special T-shirt day was a tie-in with Coach Beilein's campaign to raise money for the foundation as part of the ESPN Infiniti Coaches Charity Challenge. To date, Beilein continues to lead the fan voted campaign which could yield up to $100,000 for the Chad Tough Foundation.
Chad Carr was the son of Jason and Tammi Carr and the grandson of former U-M head football coach Lloyd Carr. He was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) - an inoperable brain tumor on the brain stem - in September of 2014 before succumbing to the disease on November 23, 2015.

Michigan has had two players reach 1,000 points this season -- Caris LeVert against Northern Kentucky (Dec. 15) and Zak Irvin at Ohio State (Feb. 16). LeVert has 1,070 total (43rd), while Irvin has 1,043 total (t-45th).
Irvin has scored a season-best 22 points on two occasions. Both of those games were upset victories over nationally ranked foes. First was against 3/3 Maryland (70-67; Jan. 12) and against 18/16 Purdue (61-56; Feb. 13).
Derrick Walton Jr. leads U-M with four double-doubles -- all of which have come via points and rebounds. In fact, he recorded the program's fifth triple-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists against Youngstown State (Dec. 19). The 6-1 guard leads U-M with 5.7 rebounds and tops that average in B1G play at 6.3 per game.
Duncan Robinson is eighth (8th) nationally shooting 45.7 percent from long range. With 84 total, he needs 16 more three-pointers to become just the second Wolverine ever to reach 100 in a single season.
Robinson is a near perfect 23-for-24 from the free throw line in B1G play. In fact, he has missed just two free throws the entire season, going 30-for-32 (93.8 percent).
LEADERS AND BEST -- NATIONALLY
Michigan is fifth (5th) nationally and a B1G best for personal fouls per game (15.5). U-M has been among the top 10 nationally for the last four years, including a nation's best 14.2 per game average in 2013-14.
Michigan ranks seventh (7th) nationally and a B1G best with 9.9 turnovers per game. Michigan has had 14 games with fewer than 10 turnovers, including a season-best six on four occasions.
Michigan ranks 14th nationally with 9.7 three-pointers per game. U-M has 18 games this season with 10-plus three-pointers. In total, U-M has made 302 three-pointers, which is 13th nationally.
With its 15.0 assists per game (75th nationally), the Wolverines are 10th nationally for assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.51.
RECORD BOOK WATCH
Zak Irvin needs to play in one more game to become the 64th Wolverine to surpass 100 career games in their career.
Zak Irvin became the 50th Wolverine to score 1,000 career points when he scored 15 points at Ohio State (Feb. 16). He has 1,043 total points ranking him tied for 45th all-time.
Closing in on 1,000 points is Derrick Walton Jr., who needs just 158 (842).
Combining is DI and DIII numbers, Duncan Robinson needs just 108 (892) to reach 1,000 points. He has 344 points at U-M (DI) and scored 548 at Williams College (DIII, 2013-14).
Zak Irvin moved into U-M's top 10 all-time for three-point field goals made. He currently has 180 total, putting him eighth. He needs nine more to move into seventh -- held by former Wolverine LaVell Blanchard (2000-03; 189).
Zak Irvin has 493 career long range attempts and is seventh all-time. He needs 96 to reach sixth held by Tim Hardaway Jr. (589; 2011-13). He needs seven to become the seventh Wolverine to reach 500-plus attempts. He already is the ninth Wolverine to have 400-plus attempts.
U-M coach John Beilein has 186 wins at Michigan, ranking third all-time. He needs 14 more to become the second Wolverine coach to reach 200 and needs five (5) more to move into second on the Wolverines all-time coaching list. He trails U-M legendary coaches Johnny Orr (209) and Bill Frieder (191).
Overall, Beilein has 737 career wins in his 38 years on the bench. Just on the Division I level alone, he has 479 wins and needs just 21 to reach the DI 500-win plateau.
