
Fahey Wins Singles Title at Victoria 10K

VICTORIA, British Columbia -- Sophomore Kate Fahey of the University of Michigan women's tennis team dropped just one set en route to winning the singles title at the Victoria 10K on Sunday (June 19).
Fahey defeated Jessica Failla of Southern California in Sunday's final, 6-2, 6-1. Fahey marched through the 32-peson draw with her only dropped set coming in the second round to second-seeded Alexandra Morozova. Fahey won the first and third sets in the match, taking a 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 win to reach the quarterfinals.
Fahey picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win in the quarters before a 6-1, 6-3 semifinal win to reach the championship match.
Fahey recently completed her freshman season at Michigan, compiling a 31-8 overall singles record and a 21-3 dual-match mark. She finished the campaign ranked No. 61 by the ITA while earning All-Big Ten honors.
