LaFontaine Joins Incoming Freshman Class for 2016-17

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan ice hockey team has announced Friday (June 24) the addition of goaltender Jack LaFontaine (Mississauga, Ontario) to the incoming freshman class for the 2016-17 season.
"Jack is a big athletic goaltender with a great hockey mind, and we've gotten to know him very well over the last few years," said assistant coach Brian Wiseman. "He has shown maturity beyond his years, and he's highly competitive in net. Jack gives us great depth and competition at the position heading into next season."
Jack LaFontaine: A 6'3", 197-pound goaltender ... Ranked No. 13 among draft-eligible North American goaltenders in final NHL Central Scouting Rankings ... Played this past season with the Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) ... In 41 games with Janesville in 2015-16, LaFontaine went 24-8-7 with a 2.16 GAA and .921 Save %, leading the Jets to the postseason, where he had a 1.89 GAA and .926 Save % in four starts ... Named to the NAHL All-Midwest Division Team ... At 17, was starting goaltender for Georgetown Raiders of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) in 2014-15, finishing the season with a 20-6-0 record, 2.13 GAA and .923 Save %.
