CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team kicked off the fall portion of its schedule this weekend (Fri-Sun., Sept. 23-25) at the UVA Fall Invitational at the University of Virginia's Snyder Tennis Center.
Junior Alex Najarian made a run to the final of her flight but fell on the final day of competition to Old Dominion's Borislava Botusharova, 6-1, 6-1.
Weather forced play to move indoors on the final day of action, so all matches that were not finals matches played eight-game pro sets.
Freshman Chiara Lommer won a pair of matches on the weekend to highlight her first collegiate experience in the Maize and Blue.
U-M is back in action Oct. 4-9 at the Riviera ITA Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, California.
