The University of Michigan women's basketball team (16-5, 5-2 Big Ten) returns to Crisler Center to host Northwestern (15-4, 4-2 Big Ten) on Wednesday (Jan. 25) at 7 p.m. U-M is currently third in the Big Ten with NU right behind in fourth place.

For just the third time in school history, Michigan has won 16 of its first 21 games. U-M featured a 16-5 record in both 2011-12 and 2012-13 en route to an NCAA Tournament appearance in each season.
Head coach Kim Barnes Arico is in her fifth season in Ann Arbor and already holds the distinction of the first head coach to record four straight 20-win seasons. She has 99 wins now in Ann Arbor and has moved into second place on the all-time list at U-M. Her .627 winning percentage is tops by a Michigan women's basketball coach and with one more win, she will become only the second coach in program history with 100 victories at Michigan.
Sophomore Nicole Munger came off the bench and made a big impact in Michigan's 84-51 win at Nebraska (Jan. 22), going for a season-high 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting. She was 4-for-7 from three-point range, setting new career highs in makes and attempts. It was her third double-figure scoring game of the season and eighth of her career.
Northwestern (15-4, 4-2 B1G) has not played since a 76-65 win over Michigan State on Jan. 17 and is right behind Michigan in the Big Ten standings. NU features three double-digit scorers in Nia Coffey (19.6 ppg, 11.4 rpg), Christen Inman (13.8 ppg) and Ashley Deary (11.8 ppg). The Wildcats are averaging 73.7 points per game on 44.3-percent shooting while allowing 64.6 points per contest on 37.4-percent shooting.
Senior Siera Thompson is closing in on Jenny Ryan for second on the all-time assists list at Michigan. Thompson now has 486 after going for seven at Nebraska (Jan. 22). Ryan is second with 489, with Anne Thorius in first with 537. Thompson is also 38 points away from breaking into the top 10 in career scoring at U-M.
Junior Katelynn Flaherty is up to 1,693 career points, putting her third all-time at Michigan in scoring. She is seven points away from becoming just the third player in school history to reach 1,700 points and 21 points from moving into second place at U-M (Jennifer Smith, 1,714).
Michigan is 10-0 at Crisler Center this season after knocking off Minnesota, 84-69, on Jan. 15. U-M is averaging 83.7 points per game on 48.5-percent shooting at home while holding opponents to 50.7 points per game on 33.7-percent shooting. Michigan is taking advantage of the third quarter at home, outscoring opponents, 248-128, in the first 10 minutes after the half. U-M is 60-22 at Crisler Center under fifth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico.
