ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Four members of the University of Michigan women's soccer team received All-Big Ten Conference honors on Friday (Oct. 27). Senior/junior defender Taylor Timko was an All-Big Ten second team selection along with freshman midfielder Sarah Stratigakis, who also earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team. In addition, senior goalkeeper Sarah Jackson and junior forward Reilly Martin earned All-Big Ten third team recognition.
Timko earned the second postseason honor of her career, as she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2014. After missing the 2016 season due to injury, she made a strong return, finishing the 2017 regular season as one of three Wolverines to start all 18 matches. The Rochester Hills, Michigan, native recorded four goals and two assists to finish fourth on the team with 10 points as an outside back.
In her first season in maize and blue, Stratigakis joined Timko as one of three players to start all 18 games. A midfielder from Woodbridge, Ontario, she tallied three goals and five assists, highlighted by a season-best three-point performance at Minnesota that included the game-tying goal with 11 seconds remaining in regulation. She started her career strong, scoring a goal in each of her first two games en route to being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Stratigakis is the only freshman on the 11-member All-Big Ten second team.
Martin earned her third straight conference honor, as she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2015 and All-Big Ten second team a year ago. The Carmel, Indiana, native led the Wolverines with 17 points on six goals and five assists this season, including a career-high two-goal performance against Iowa. Martin tallied at least one point in seven of 11 Big Ten games this season, notching 14 of her 17 points in conference play. She ranks 10th in the Big Ten in points per game, averaging 1.0 point per outing this season.Â
In her final season at Michigan, Jackson earned her first All-Big Ten selection. Leading U-M's talented goalkeeper contingent, the Southborough, Massachusetts, native played in 12 matches with eight starts this season. Jackson wrapped up the regular season with a goals-against average of 0.98 and a save percentage of .847, which is second in the Big Ten. She also ranks second all-time at Michigan in career goals-against average at 0.94 and second in save percentage at .827. Her three shared shutouts this season give her 8.4 shutouts in her career, which rank ninth all-time in program history.
In addition to Michigan's four All-Big Ten honors, senior defender Alyssa Dillon was also recognized by the conference as U-M's Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree. A 2017 team captain, Dillon played in 16 games with seven starts at outside back.
