Lin and Siimar Take Doubles Crown at Lakewood Ranch Invite

SARASOTA, Fla. – The University of Michigan men's tennis duo of senior Carter Lin and freshman Mattias Siimar claimed the doubles main draw crown at the Lakewood Ranch Invitational on Sunday (Nov. 5) to wrap up the three-day tournament at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.
Lin and M. Siimar went 4-0 over the weekend in doubles play, including an 8-4 triumph in the finals match over Andres Andrade and Jordan Belga of the University of Florida. The duo advanced to the championship match with an 8-2 win over Luke Gamble and Diego Vives of Princeton on Saturday.
In singles play, Siimar advanced to the main draw finals after winning four matches in straight-sets, only dropping a combined 10 sets over that span. After winning the first set, 6-2, in the final, Siimar fell short after dropping the followings sets 3-6, 5-7 to Andrade of Florida.
Lin also had a strong showing in the singles main draw, advancing to the semifinals before falling to the ultimate tournament champion Andrade, 6-2, 5-7, 4-6.
Michigan concludes its fall schedule and will resume play Jan. 20, 2018, when it travels to Seattle to kick off dual match play against the University of Washington.
