IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team came from behind after failing to pick up the doubles point to secure a 5-2 victory over Iowa on Friday evening (April 21) at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
In singles play, No. 81-ranked Jathan Malik made quick work on court one in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, to even the score at one apiece. Michigan took the lead after a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles by No. 111-ranked Myles Schalet and never relinquished it.
No. 109-ranked Alex Knight proceeded to take court two, 6-1, 7-5, before Carter Lin clinched the match for the Maize and Blue with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 triumph at No. 4 singles.
With the win, Michigan improves to 52-9 all-time against Iowa.
The Wolverines will conclude their regular-season schedule on Sunday (April 23) at Nebraska. The match is set to begin at noon CDT.
