
Fahey, Minor, Najarian Earn NCAA Individual Bids

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Sophomore Kate Fahey, sophomore Brienne Minor and junior Alex Najarian will represent the University of Michigan women's tennis team at the NCAA individual championships as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday (May 3).
Fahey will make her first appearance in the NCAA singles championship following a 31-6 mark in singles action. She went 19-2 in dual matches, compiling a 12-1 mark at No. 1 and a 7-1 record at No. 2. Fahey has won 11 straight singles matches entering the postseason and is currently ranked No. 25 by the ITA. She will be joined by Najarian on the doubles court, as the pair went 26-4 together and is ranked No. 9. The duo won the backdraw at the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships and spent time ranked as the No. 1 pair in the country.
Minor is making her second straight appearance in the NCAA singles tournament after going 25-6 on the singles court as a sophomore. Minor went 18-5 in dual-match play with a 6-3 record at No. 1 and a 12-2 record at No. 2. She is currently ranked No. 24 by the ITA.
The individual tournaments will be hosted by the University of Georgia and run May 24-29. The draws will be announced closer to the beginning of the tournaments.
U-M is the No. 10 seed for the upcoming NCAA Tournament and will host Kentucky, Dartmouth and Youngstown State at the Varsity Tennis Center (May 12-13).
