Throughout the offseason and heading into the 2017 season, the Wolverines will give fans an inside look at the Michigan volleyball program with the At the Net blogs. This week, rising junior Jenna Lerg discusses her summer in Ann Arbor, her love for organic chemistry, and trying new things
Spring time is my favorite time. Campus turns green, and the warmer weather makes moped rides less painful than those early, single-digit degree mornings during winter term. Although I miss my fall/winter daily routine of class, practice, eat, homework, sleep and repeat, I certainly take advantage of the free time we are granted in the spring.
I've kept busy in the classroom, getting ahead on some more challenging coursework that requires additional study time outside of the classroom. Some people think I'm crazy when I say I love organic chemistry, but I really do love organic chemistry. With my classes just finishing up this spring, I plan on traveling a little bit until mid-July, then I will return to Ann Arbor to work Michigan Volleyball Camps. In the blink of an eye, my teammates Maddy Abbott and Carly Skjodt and I will officially be upperclassmen. Excited is an understatement!
Side note: I accomplished a great feat this spring. If you know me at all -- you probably can tell that I'm quite a "foodie" (as my mom calls me). I love seeking out the best eateries in Ann Arbor and finding the best thing on the menu. I'm not necessarily an adventurous eater, but I've been more willing to try new foods as of late. Recently, I have developed a love for sushi, something that I swore I would never try in a million years. Thank you to all my friends who forced me to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new. I owe it all to you!
Hopefully I will be seeing you all very soon in maize and blue! And hopefully this whole college thing slows down ... I refuse to believe it's already half way done. It's been an honor to compete alongside some talented, amazing girls thus far, and I can't wait to welcome a few more into our little family. ? Looking forward to all that is to come for myself, my teammates, and the Michigan volleyball program!
