
Postgame Notes: #15 Michigan 42, Maryland 21

• The game's start, originally scheduled for noon, was delayed due to lightning in the area until 1:10 p.m.
• In the eighth all-time meeting between Michigan and Maryland, the Wolverines improved to 7-1 all-time against the Terrapins. Michigan has won four straight against the Terps and is 4-1 against Maryland in Big Ten play.
• Today's announced attendance of 109,531 marks the 282nd consecutive game at Michigan Stadium with a crowd in excess of 100,000.
• The Wolverines won their fifth straight game, marking the third streak of at least five wins under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
• Quarterback Shea Patterson finished the day 19-of-27 passing for 282 yards and three touchdowns. His 282 yards are his highest single-game total at Michigan, and it marked his third game this season with three touchdown passes.
• With touchdown passes to Ronnie Bell and Jared Wangler, Shea Patterson has found six different U-M players on his 10 touchdowns so far this year: Donovan Peoples-Jones (5), Bell (1), Nico Collins (1), Zach Gentry (1), Sean McKeon (1) and Jared Wangler (1).
• Wide receiver Grant Perry attempted and completed his first career pass in today's game, a 12-yard connection with Sean McKeon.
• Defensive back Brandon Watson recorded the second interception and first touchdown of his career in the fourth quarter, intercepting Kasim Hill and running it back 46 yards for a touchdown. It was the fifth interception and second touchdown for the Michigan defense this season.
• Wide receiver Nico Collins' 51-yard catch in the second quarter was one yard shy of matching his career long of 52 yards (at Notre Dame). He has at least one catch over 20 yards in four of five games this season.
• Fullback Ben Mason scored his fifth touchdown of the season, tying him with Karan Higdon for the team lead in rushing touchdowns. Mason rushed five times for 12 yards and a score in the game.
• Running back Karan Higdon rushed for 103 yards, becoming the 23rd player in Michigan history to gain 2,000 career rushing yards (2,020). It was Higdon's fourth straight 100-yard rushing game and ninth of his career. He is now tied for 16th in Michigan history with nine 100-yard rushing games.
• Tight end Zach Gentry finished his day with career highs in receptions (7) and yards (112), marking the first 100-yard game of his career. He has now caught a pass in 10 consecutive games dating back to last season.
• Placekicker Quinn Nordin made field goals of 34 yards and 31 yards, running his streak of consecutive field goals made to six. He is now 8-for-9 on the season.
• Fullback Jared Wangler recorded the second reception and first touchdown of his career, catching a seven-yard toss in the fourth quarter.
• Today's game marked the first career start for defensive lineman Kwity Paye.
• The Michigan defense, which entered the game leading the nation in total defense at 232.6 yards per game, held Maryland to 220 yards of total offense, nearly 180 yards less than its average entering the contest (399.8).
• Former director of strength and conditioning Mike Gittleson was Michigan's honorary captain at today's game. On Friday (Oct. 5), the program announced the creation of an endowment fund and the renaming of the strength and conditioning director position as the Mike Gittleson Director of Strength and Conditioning. Gittleson led the strength and conditioning program for Michigan Football for over 30 years and was honored as an "Honorary M Man" in 1997. Gittleson was inducted into the USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame in 2009.
