Grass put Michigan on the board first with a free-position goal just under four minutes into the first half (26:34). Canisius answered to tie it up at 1 with 21:10 on the clock. Kane came out strong with back-to-back goals just 41 seconds apart to put the Wolverines up by two with 19:57 left in the first period. On the first goal, Kane's first free-position attempt was saved and she picked up her own rebound and scored from close-range.

Stewart had two of the four goals, which book-ended the run, with the first the result of a pass from Brueckner at the 3:09 mark. With 2.6 seconds left in the first half, Kirby scored her first of four goals on a free position to allow the Wolverines to enter the locker room with the 5-2 advantage.
The run continued into the second half, with an unassisted goal from freshman attacker Caitlin Muir, at the 1:29 mark. Today's game marked Muir's career debut and her first career goal, as she missed the first three games due to injury.
