
Four Wolverines Named NSCA All-Americans

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) has selected four University of Michigan student-athletes as 2018 All-American Athlete Award recipients.
The four All-American recipients include: redshirt junior Miles Lewis (baseball), senior Jillian Dunston (women's basketball), junior Robbie Mertz (men's soccer) and junior Katie Alexander (softball).Â
"It is an honor to continue to recognize the consistent dedication to strength and conditioning that the student-athletes at the University of Michigan demonstrate year-in and year-out," said Mike Favre, the director of Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning at the University of Michigan. "The day-to-day commitment to enhancing their physical preparation is a testament to the character that is the foundation of all our sport programs here at the University of Michigan."Â
Lewis has helped lead the Wolverines to a 20-game winning streak this season, starting 27 games with two home runs and 19 runs batted in. Dunston started all 33 games to lead U-M to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She averaged 3.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Mertz started all 20 games in the fall and had three goals and four assists to help Michigan claim its first Big Ten title. Alexander has helped lead U-M to a 38-7 record, hitting .358 with five home runs and 20 runs batted in.
The award is given to student-athletes based on athletic accomplishments and dedication to strength and conditioning. Michigan has earned 40 NSCA All-Americans over the last four years.
