LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team's seven-member incoming class has been ranked the 12th-best recruiting class in the country by PrepVolleyball.com, it was announced recently.
Michigan's incoming class includes freshmen Kayla Bair, Paige Jones, Abbey Malinowski, Erin O'Leary, Grace Persson and Lizzie Sadilek, along with transfer Katarina Glavinic. The incoming class of seven is Michigan's largest during the Mark Rosen era.
"We are very excited about the 2018 recruiting class," said Rosen. "It's a big class for us, and recruiting is so interesting because it happens so early now. These players have been committed for a year and a half or two years, so it's exciting that it's finally official and they'll be here soon. This class is a really good group that fits the needs of our program well and will have a strong impact on our program over the next four years. All of them come with great high school and club accomplishments and accolades and we look forward to seeing how they make the transition to the collegiate level."
The No. 12 ranking is the third-highest ranking among Big Ten schools, behind Penn State (No. 1) and Nebraska (No. 5). Purdue (No. 13), Minnesota (No. 14), Michigan State (No. 15) and Northwestern (No. 18) also made the top-30 list, while Illinois, Indiana and Iowa earned the Highest Honorable Mention. Maryland, Ohio State and Wisconsin earned High Honorable Mention.
With the incoming class solidified, Michigan's 2018 roster will boast 19 players, made up of three senior captains, six juniors, four sophomores and six true freshmen.
