ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The future of University of Michigan track and field will be on display this weekend when several first-year Wolverines and many more incoming Wolverines compete at the USATF Junior Championships on Friday and Saturday (June 15-16) and the New Balance Nationals on Friday through Sunday (June 15-17).
The group of current U-M student-athletes in Jack Aho (10,000 meters), Noah Caudy (400 hurdles), Chloe Foster (400 hurdles), Alice Hill (steeplechase) and Michaiah Thomas (100 hurdles) will be joined at USA Juniors by incoming thrower John Meyer (shot put) in pursuit of berths to the IAAF World Junior Championships later this summer.
Held at the same Robert C. Haugh Stadium that hosted the Big Ten Championships last month, that group will aim to finish top-two in their respective events to secure their inclusion on the Team USA roster for World Juniors in Tampere, Finland, on July 10-15.
While they are chasing Team USA roster spots, a crop of future Wolverines will be chasing All-America honors at New Balance Nationals Outdoors in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Future Michigan men in competition include Anthony DeKraker (mile and relays), Austin Remick (800m, mile), Cassidy Henshaw (110 hurdles, long jump, high jump), Gabriel Mudel (two-mile and relays), Jack Boyle (shot put), and Job Mayhue (110 hurdles).
Future Michigan women in competition include Jessica Mercier (pole vault), Maddie Brand (mile), Maddy Denner (mile, two-mile), Megan Worrel (relays) and Olivia Theis (two-mile and relay).
The top six finishers in each event -- either individual or relay -- will earn All-America honors.
