MADRID, Spain -- The University of Michigan men's basketball team boarded two flights on Friday (Aug. 17) for the 11.5-hour trip from Ann Arbor trip to Madrid. After listening to music, watching movies or sleeping during the overseas flights, U-M reached its destination. In order to set their body clocks to the six-hour time difference, the group wasted no time heading to the capital city to take in the sights.
Upon arrival, the Wolverines took a tour of Madrid with stops at the famous bull fight arena, the Royal Palace Arena and gardens, as well as visited the city's several market squares and monuments. Checking into the hotel for an afternoon break, the Maize and Blue regrouped for its welcome dinner in downtown Madrid before getting some much-needed rest. It was a great start to the nine-day trip.
U-M stops at the famous Plaza de Toros, which is known for its bull fighting.
Another stop at the Royal Palace of Madrid and its famous gardens.
It is a relaxing morning before heading out to tour Toledo tomorrow for a tour of the city and its medieval castles.
