ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- In conjunction with the Big Ten Conference and the Big Ten Network, the University of Michigan men's basketball team announced its entire 2018-19 schedule Tuesday (Aug. 21). The non-conference schedule is highlighted by a return to the Gavitt Tipoff Games at defending national champion Villanova as well as a return game in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge against North Carolina at Crisler Center in late November.
U-M will host Northwood on Friday, Nov. 2 for its only exhibition game. The regular season will start on Nov. 6 with the first of two Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament campus round games. First is the season opener against Norfolk State, followed by Holy Cross on Nov. 10.
After those games, the Wolverines will hit the road for a rematch of the 2018 national title game at Villanova on Nov. 14 before heading to the Mohegan Sun Arena for the championship round of the Naismith Hall of Fame Tournament.
Returning to Ann Arbor, U-M will close November hosting North Carolina on Nov. 28 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge before hosting an opening home/road Big Ten weekend in early December. U-M will start conference play hosting Purdue on Dec. 1 and will head to Northwestern on Dec 4. The non-conference slate concludes with four December weekend matchups.
Moving to a 20-game Big Ten schedule this season, U-M will continue its remaining 18 conference games on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, when it hosts Penn State.
With the Big Ten Tournament returning to Chicago and the United Center, the Wolverines will go in search of their third straight conference tournament title as games will start Wednesday, March 12, and conclude Sunday, March 17. Following Selection Sunday, the Maize and Blue will look to make another deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
Game times and television designations will be announced at a later date.
