INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team is heading back to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year, earning an at-large bid to the 48-team field on Monday (Nov. 18). The Wolverines were awarded the No. 13 seed that comes with a first-round bye, and they will host either Notre Dame or Wright State in a second-round contest Sunday (Nov. 24) at U-M Soccer Stadium. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
Notre Dame and Wright State are scheduled to play Thursday (Nov. 21) at 7 p.m. in South Bend, Indiana.
The Wolverines (11-4-5) have earned three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in program history, reaching the second round in each of the last two years. They finished third in the Big Ten Conference and reached the Big Ten Tournament final for the second consecutive year, playing No. 8 Indiana to a scoreless draw yesterday (Sunday, Nov. 17) before falling in the penalty kick shootout.
U-M is 6-2-2 in its last 10 matches, including five matches played against RPI top-30 opponents. It received an at-large bid largely due to its 3-3-2 record vs. RPI top-50 opponents, with all five results coming in away or neutral-site matches.
Tickets for Sunday's match will go on sale at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 19). Prices are $8 (reserved), $6 (general admission adults) and $3 (students, groups of 10-plus people). To purchase, visit MGoBlue.com/tickets or call the Michigan Athletics Ticket Office at (866) 296-MTIX.
