ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan football team announced today (Wednesday, Feb. 6) the signing of defensive back Quinten Johnson, the 26th member of the Wolverines' 2019 recruiting class. Michigan inked the eighth-ranked recruiting class according to ESPN and 247Sports and finished 10th nationally in the Rivals rankings; all three sites listed U-M's class tops among Big Ten Conference schools.
Michigan signed players from 11 different states and added defensive lineman David Ojabo from Aberdeen, Scotland, who is prepping at Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J. The core of this year's recruiting class includes six players from Ohio, five from Georgia, three from Florida and a pair of individuals from California, Connecticut and Michigan.
The Wolverines addressed every position group in this year's recruiting class, with a strong emphasis on the offensive and defensive lines. Michigan also added five wide receivers and four defensive backs.
U-M had four players listed as the Gatorade Player of the Year in their respective state and each of those four individuals was rated as the top ranked student-athlete in that state: defensive back Daxton Hill (Oklahoma), wide receiver Cornelius Johnson (Connecticut), quarterback Cade McNamara (Nevada) and wide receiver Mike Sainristil (Massachusetts).
The Wolverines had 11 signees selected for postseason all-star games: six in the Under Armour All-American Game, four in the All-American Game and wide receiver Giles Jackson in the Polynesian Bowl.
