
Boka Signs Pro Contract with AHL’s Iowa Wild

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan ice hockey senior defenseman Nicholas Boka has signed an American Hockey League (AHL) amateur tryout contract with the Iowa Wild, the AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, it was announced Saturday (March 16).
"I am excited to be a part of the WIld organization," said Boka. "They have a very good team this year, and I can't wait to learn from the coaching staff and players and to continue playing hockey this season."
A native of Plymouth, Michigan, Boka was selected 171st overall (sixth round) by Minnesota in the 2015 NHL Draft. He leaves Michigan with 30 points (six goals, 24 assists) in 147 games with a plus-19 rating. He was a member of the 2015-16 Big Ten Tournament championship team and helped guide the Wolverines to two NCAA Tournament appearances and a Frozen Four bid in 2018.
"I really enjoyed my time at Michigan and felt it gave me time to mature both on and off the ice," said Boka. "It has prepared me to turn pro and take the next step towards my development.
This season, Boka was named a co-captain and wrapped up his senior year with a career-high three goals along with six assists for nine points.
