BUFFALO, N.Y. -- University of Michigan ice hockey sophomore defenseman Quinn Hughes earned first-team AHCA/CCM All-America recognition Friday night (April 12) during the Hobey Baker Ceremony at the 2019 NCAA Frozen Four.
Hughes led Michigan in points this season (33) while registering five goals and 28 assists in 32 games. His points were sixth highest in the nation among defensemen. Hughes' assist total was third among blue-liners, fifth among all skaters and second in the Big Ten. The Orlando, Florida, native was a Big Ten Conference first-team honoree and a finalist for the 2018-19 Hobey Baker Award.
Hughes signed a professional contract with the Vancouver Canucks at the end of the season and appeared in five games with three assists.
Hughes becomes the 95th All-American in program history and the most recent since Cooper Marody earned All-America honors following Michigan's 2017-18 Frozen Four season.
