ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Big Ten Network, in conjunction with the University of Michigan Athletic Department, will air a 30-minute special presentation on the football team's foreign trip this past May titled, "Maize and Blue Abroad: South Africa." The program will be televised tonight (Wednesday, July 17) at 9 p.m.
Chronicling the football team's travels to Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa, the show features commentary and reflections from student-athletes and Jim Harbaugh, U-M's J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach.
Viewers will be able to see footage of the team's travels throughout South Africa from May 2-10. The program will share behind-the-scenes footage from stops at Signal Hill, Robben Island, Table Mountain, Boulders Beach Penguin Colony, the Apartheid Museum and the Entabeni Safari Conservancy.
Harbaugh believes that all learning is not done in a classroom. The yearly foreign trips serve not only to educate the players about other cultures but also provide the opportunity to give back through community service projects and clinics for the youth in each country.
