ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's soccer head coach Jennifer Klein announced Wednesday (Aug. 21) that senior Jada Dayne and junior Alia Martin will serve as the team captains for the 2019 season.
"We are very excited about our program's leadership structure, which we call our circle of influence," said Klein. "That circle consists of our team leaders, team captains and our coaches. All three groups are needed to impact our group to be successful and reach our goals. Jada and Alia are servant leaders who truly embody the phrase, 'The Team, The Team, The Team.'"
Dayne has appeared in 47 matches (46 starts) in her first three seasons to help anchor the backline for the Wolverines. The Waunakee, Wisconsin, native has scored four goals and collected three assists over her career thus far.
Martin has played in and started 23 matches in her first two seasons as a Wolverine after she worked her way back from injury in her sophomore campaign. The 5-foot-9 midfielder scored two goals and added three assists in her second season with Michigan after starting 11 matches.
Michigan will open the 2019 campaign Thursday (Aug. 22) at U-M Soccer Stadium when it welcomes Marshall to town for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
