ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's golf coach Jan Dowling announced Tuesday (Aug. 6) the 10-tournament regular-season schedule for the Wolverines' upcoming 2019-20 season.
"We take a lot of pride in scheduling a nationally-competitive schedule," said Dowling. "Our goal is play the most competitive tournaments possible on great golf courses that test our ability to adapt to different conditions and grasses.
"The end goal is to help our team prepare for the postseason, and we are thrilled about these opportunities. This coming year certainly meets our expectations, and we are excited to test our mettle all season long."
Michigan will play in four fall events followed by six spring events prior to the start of the postseason, which will begin April 24-26, 2020, with the Big Ten Championships at TPC Rivers Bend in Maineville, Ohio, for the fourth straight year.
Dowling's seventh season with U-M is set to begin with a local trip down US 23 to Toledo, Ohio, and the Inverness Club for the Inverness Women's Intercollege (Sept. 16-17) before the Maize and Blue head to Chicago for Northwestern's Windy City Classic (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) at the Westmoreland Country Club.
The fall will close with back-to-back events in North Carolina starting with U-M's fourth straight visit to North Carolina's Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational (Oct. 11-13) at the Finley Golf Course. The first half of the season will end in Wilmington with a third straight trip to UNC Wilmington's Landfall Tradition (Oct. 25-27) at the Country Club of Landfall.
Following a three-month training break, the Wolverines will open their spring season with a trip to Jalisco, Mexico, to play in host Virginia's Guadalajara International Invitational (Feb. 16-18) at Guadalajara Country Club. U-M then will bookend its spring-break training trip with Miami's Hurricane Invitational (March 2-3) at the Biltmore and will close it at Florida's Gator Invitational (March 7-8) at the Mark Bostick Golf Course.
Michigan will finish its March schedule heading to John's Island, South Carolina, to play in the College of Charleston's Briar's Creek Invitational (March 16-17). A fifth straight trip to the Bryan Park Golf Course and UNC Greensboro's Bryan National Collegiate (April 5-7) will start the final regular-season month before the Wolverines have a final Big Ten tune-up at Ohio State's Lady Buckeye Invitational (April 18-19) on the Scarlet Course.
Following the Big Ten Championships, the NCAA postseason will begin May 11-13 with a four-site regional, to be hosted in Athens, Georgia (Georgia Golf Course); South Bend, Indiana (Warren Golf Course); Pullman, Washington (Palouse Ridge Golf Club); and Raleigh, North Carolina (Lonnie Poole Golf Course).
The NCAA Championships will move to Scottsdale, Arizona, for the next three years as Arizona State will host the national championship at the Grayhawk Golf Club (May 22-27). The format will remain the same with 72 holes of stroke play to determine the top eight teams, which will move to match play to determine the team national champion.
