ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan football team announced Saturday (Jan. 4) the addition of defensive back Darion Green-Warren to the program's signing class as the 23rd member of the 2020 signing class. Green-Warren signed with the Wolverines during the early signing period and made his official announcement at the All-American Game played in San Antonio, Texas.
Michigan signed players from 11 different states including wide receiver Roman Wilson from Hawaii, who will become the fourth player from the state to ever don the maize and blue. The core of this year's recruiting class includes four players from Michigan, three student-athletes from Maryland, Massachusetts and New Jersey, and a pair of individuals from California, New York and Virginia.
The Wolverines addressed every position group in this year's recruiting class, with a strong emphasis on all three levels of the defense with five players in the secondary and four players along the defensive line and at linebacker. Offensively, Michigan added three offensive linemen, two wide receivers and one quarterback, running back and tight end.
U-M had three players listed as the Gatorade Player of the Year in their respective state and each of those three individuals were rated as the top ranked student-athlete in that state by different recruiting services: Blake Corum (Maryland), wide receiver A.J. Henning (Illinois) and linebacker Kalel Mullings (Massachusetts). The Wolverines had four Gatorade Players of the Year in last year's signing class and have nine student-athletes on the roster that have earned the honor.
The Wolverines have 12 signees selected for postseason all-star games: five in the All-American Bowl, three in the Under Armour All-American Game, two in the Polynesian Bowl and two in the International Bowl as members of the US National Team.
