ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan ice hockey program announced the addition of Matthew Beniers to its 2020-21 incoming class Wednesday (Aug. 12).
"I have to give credit to associate head coach Bill Muckalt and assistant coach Kris Mayotte, who did a tremendous job of putting this class together," Graham Family Head Ice Hockey Coach Mel Pearson said. "There were some unexpected hurdles this year, but they did a great job in spite of the challenges. We are thrilled about the addition of Matthew Beniers. He will be an excellent complement not just to this class but to this program."

Mayotte on Beniers ... "Matthew has an incredibly high hockey IQ, creating space and reading the ice. He's a total 200-foot player and is always looking to be involved in the action as either a goal-scorer or a playmaker. As a top prospect for the 2021 draft, we are thrilled that he is joining the Maize and Blue and think he can make an immediate impact on the program."
