
Loughman, Martin First Team All-Big Ten; Six Wolverines Earn All-B1G Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Seniors Raleigh Loughman and Alia Martin of the University of Michigan women's soccer team were named first team All-Big Ten to lead a contingent of six Wolverines to earn conference honors, it was announced Thursday (Oct. 28).
Martin's first-team accolade is the the third of her career and makes her just the third Wolverine in program history to be named first team all-conference three times, while Loughman's first-team nod is her first.
Fellow seniors Nicki Hernandez and Sarah Stratigakis earned second team honors. Hernandez took home the third honor, while Stratigakis earned a school-record fifth All-Big Ten honor in her storied career.
Freshman Avery Kalitta was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman team, while senior Skylar Anderson earned the conference's Sportsmanship Award.
The six honorees tie for the second-most in program history with the 2020-21 squad and the 2012 team. Those season trail the eight honorees named in the 2019 season.
Martin earns her third All-Big Ten first team honor. The senior defender has started 13 matches on the season and has logged 1,157 minutes. She also dished out one assist and is the centerpiece of one of the conference's most talented back lines.
Loughman has played in 18 matches (16 starts), leading the team in goals (seven), assists (five) and points (19) from her spot in the midfield. Her seven goals have come on only 25 shots, with 14 coming on goal. Four of the tallies have been of the match-winning variety. The honor is her third overall Big Ten plaudit, as she was named to the All-Big Ten second team in 2019 and 2020.
Hernandez earns her third All-Big Ten honor after being named to the first team in 2020 and third team in 2019. The senior forward is second on the side with 15 points and ranks second on the squad in goals with six. Her 56 shots lead the team.
Stratigakis earned her fifth All-Big Ten honor and fourth second-team honor of her career. The senior midfielder has started 17 matches this season, with one goal and three assists from her attacking midfield position.
Freshman Avery Kalitta took home a spot on the freshman team after playing 728 minutes as a holding midfielder with a trio of starts. Collectively, she has played in all 18 matches and had one assist.
In addition, senior Skylar Anderson was recognized by the conference as U-M's Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree. Anderson has taken part in 17 matches with 10 starting nods (849 minutes).
