ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan, in conjunction with the Big Ten Conference, announced its 2021 women's lacrosse schedule Thursday (Feb. 4). The 12-game conference-only slate includes six games at U-M Lacrosse Stadium.
The start of the season was postponed due to health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
U-M will begin with three away games, starting with a single game at Ohio State on Sunday, Feb. 21, before a two-game series at Maryland on Friday, Feb. 26, and Sunday, Feb. 28.
Michigan will then open its 2021 home campaign against Rutgers on Friday, March 5, and Sunday, March 7. Following an off-weekend, the Wolverines return to action with a two-game trip to Penn State the weekend of March 19.
The Wolverines will host four straight games in Ann Arbor, beginning with a two-game set against Johns Hopkins the weekend of March 26 and single games against Northwestern (April 9) and Ohio State (April 16).
The regular season will conclude with a trip to Northwestern on Sunday, April 18.
The seven-team Big Ten Tournament is scheduled to be played Thursday through Sunday, April 29-May 2 in State College, Pa., with the top seed receiving a bye into the semifinals. First-round games will be played on April 29, and the semifinals are set for April 30. The tournament final will be held on May 2.
The Wolverines return to action after the COVID-19 pandemic cut short the 2020 season. Prior to the remainder of its schedule being canceled, Michigan was 5-1 overall prior to the start of conference play.
