ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 21-ranked University of Michigan women's lacrosse team opens up the home portion of its 2021 schedule Friday (March 5) with a 3 p.m. contest against Rutgers at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. The Wolverines and Scarlet Knights will then conclude the series Sunday (March 7) at noon. Both matchups will be streamed live on Big Ten Network Plus.
Wolverine Bites
• The Wolverines seek to extend their home win streak to 13 games. U-M is 12-0 at U-M Lacrosse Stadium, and has not lost there in the regular season since April 8, 2018, against Johns Hopkins.
• Junior Kaitlyn Mead had a standout weekend at Maryland, scoring five goals, adding two assists and winning 10 draw controls after not seeing action in the first game of the season.
• Redshirt senior Nadine Stewart also had a big offensive weekend for the Wolverines, scoring five goals with one assist. Stewart scored a team-best and career-high tying four goals in game one against the Terrapins.
• The Wolverine freshmen have already made big contributions in just the first three games of the season as Caroline Bean and Caroline Davis have started all three games. Annabelle Burke leads the class with two goals and an assist, while Davis and Josie Gooch have each scored once, and Bean has four assists to rank second on the team. Maddie Burns and Meryl Johnson also have seen time off the bench for the Wolverines.
• Senior Caitlin Muir already has reached double-digits in scoring this season with 10 points (five goals, team-best five assists). The senior has recorded at least one goal and one assist in each of the Wolverines' three games and has a .667 shots-on-goal percentage.

Rutgers
Michigan trails, 4-1, in the all-time series with Rutgers
Michigan is looking to open the series with its second straight win over Rutgers after defeating the Scarlet Knights in the 2019 regular-season home finale. Rutgers is 3-1 on the season with a pair of wins over Ohio State and a victory over Johns Hopkins. Cassidy Spilis leads the Scarlet Knights with 20 points (18 goals, two assists) and has won 14 draw controls. Spilis and Meghan Ball have also been a key part of the defense as each has a team-best seven caused turnovers this season.
