Wolverine Notes
• Michigan advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in program history, with four of those appearances coming under ninth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico. KBA is now 8-0 all-time in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
• The Maize and Blue is looking for its first Sweet 16 appearance in program history. The game against Tennessee marks the first time U-M has not faced a No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the second round.
• Michigan had four double-figure scorers in its 87-66 first-round win over Florida Gulf Coast (March 21) in Leigha Brown (28), Akienreh Johnson (15 pts, 10 rebs), Naz Hillmon (14 pts, 13 rebs) and Hailey Brown (10). U-M is now 8-0 when at least four players reach double figures, with five players doing it in the season-opening win over Central Michigan (Nov. 25). The Wolverines are 4-1 when three players score at least 10 points, while going 3-4 when just two players reach the 10-point mark.
• Michigan's offense came alive against Florida Gulf Coast, as U-M topped the 80-point mark for the first time since scoring 86 points against Michigan State (Feb. 16). U-M also shot 54.4 percent against the Eagles, the first time shooting at least 50 percent from the field since that same MSU game. The Wolverines made 8-of-20 shots from behind the arc against FGCU, the first time hitting at least 40 percent from distance since shooting 61.5 percent (8-for-13) against Northwestern on Jan. 3. U-M is now 8-0 this season when scoring at least 80 points.
• The game will feature two of the best rebounding teams in the country, with Tennessee ranking fifth in rebounding margin (+13.4) and Michigan coming in eighth (+12.0). UT averages 45.8 boards per contest, with U-M snaring 42.7 caroms a game.
