ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team fell to fifth-ranked Nebraska in straight sets (25-19, 25-15, 25-13) on Friday (March 26) inside Cliff Keen Arena. The matchup was U-M's final home contest of the amended 2021 season.
Freshman Jess Mruzik led Michigan with 12 kills and nine digs, while freshman Kendall Murray also had nine digs, matching her career high set the previous night. Classmate Scottee Johnson led the Wolverines with 19 assists.
The first set saw Michigan (4-6, 4-6 Big Ten) take a 9-8 lead off a Mruzik kill. Nebraska (14-2, 14-2 Big Ten) then ripped off four straight points to take a 12-9 lead and never looked back en route to the 25-19 first-set victory. Mruzik excelled in the stanza with a set-high six kills on 11 attempts (.455).
In the second set, U-M led, 7-6, and later tied the set on two occasions (7-7, 8-8), but the Cornhuskers used four kills from Kayla Caffey coupled with five blocks to win the set, 25-15.
In the final set, Nebraska's Jazz Sweet registered five kills and Lauren Strivrins had four as the Huskers hit .364 to .000 for the Wolverines in a 25-13 win. Mruzik had four of Michigan's six kills in the final set.

Michigan will wrap up the 2020-21 season with a trip to No. 1-ranked Wisconsin for a two-match set on Thursday and Friday (April 1-2).
