
Three Wolverines Garner United Soccer Coaches All-Region Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team recently had a trio of senior Wolverines earn United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors this season.
Senior defender Alia Martin earned first team All-North Region honors for the second straight season, while Nicki Hernandez notched all-region honors for the second time in her career as she was named to the second team. Sarah Stratigakis garnered third team all-region honors, the third nod of her career as she was named first team in 2019 and second team in 2018.
Martin anchored the backline for the Wolverines for the second straight season and also was named first team All-Big Ten for the second straight season. The senior defender helped the U-M to three shutout victories and logged a team-high 1,061 minutes on the pitch.
Hernandez was named first team All-Big Ten after being named to the third team in 2019. The senior forward led the Wolverines with 14 points, which included a team-high six goals and added two assists. She scored two game-winners and had two multi-point games, including scoring five points against Michigan State and netting both goals against Minnesota.
Stratigakis notched her third all-region honor after earning first-team honors in 2019 and second-team honors in 2018. After missing the first two games of the season due to international duties with Canada, Stratigakis earned her fourth straight All-Big Ten honor, being named to the second team. The senior midfielder scored one goal and added three assists for the Wolverines in the shortened season. Her one goal being the game-winner at Maryland.
