
Wolverines to Face Baylor in Basketball HOF Women's Showcase

UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- For the second time in the last three seasons, the University of Michigan women's basketball team will participate in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase, taking on Baylor in a rematch of the Sweet 16 from this past season, it was announced Thursday (May 27). The teams will meet at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville on Dec. 19.
"We are excited to return to Mohegan Sun to play in the Hall of Fame Women's Showcase again," head coach Kim Barnes Arico said. "We had a great experience as a team at the event in 2019 and look forward to the same this year. It will be a tremendous opportunity for us to challenge ourselves at the end of our non-conference season, as we prepare for our Big Ten schedule."
Michigan and Baylor will face each other for the second straight season after the Lady Bears edged U-M in overtime in the NCAA Sweet 16, pulling out a 78-75 win. It will be the third meeting for the teams since 2018.
U-M played in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase in 2019, squaring off against Florida State at Mohegan Sun.
Michigan is coming off a 16-6 season in 2020-21, reaching the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. U-M welcomes back its two leading scorers in All-American Naz Hillmon (23.9 ppg, 11.4 rpg) and All-Big Ten second-teamer Leigha Brown (18.2 ppg).
