
Wagner Named to Academic All-District 5 First Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan sophomore guard/forward Franz Wagner was recently selected to the first team of the CoSIDA Academic All-District men's basketball teams.
With eight total Division I Districts, Wagner was a member of the Fifth District first team which includes the States of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Joining Wagner on the first team included Joey Hauser (Michigan State), Loren Cristian Jackson (Akron), Ben Krikke (Valparaiso), Cameron Krutwig (Loyola-Chicago) and Ben Vander Plas (Ohio).
In total, Wagner was part of seven Big Ten players to be named to a team with Myles Johnson (Rutgers; District 2), Hauser (MSU; District 5), Brandon Johnson (Minnesota; District 6), Connor McCaffery and Joe Wieskamp (Iowa; District 6) and Kobe Webster (Nebraska; District 7).
Wagner, who recently announced he would be leaving early for the 2021 NBA Draft, was pursuing a degree in organizational studies and was an Academic All-Big Ten selection in 2021. A two-time U-M Academic Achievement honoree, he was honored as the 2020 U-M Academic Success Program's Male Rookie of the Year.
First team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late May.
