ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team added Jordan Hobbs to its 2021 signing class, head coach Kim Barnes Arico announced Tuesday afternoon (June 8). Hobbs signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Wolverines for the 2021-22 season.
"I am so excited about the addition of Jordan Hobbs to our program," Barnes Arico said. "With a coaching change at Rice, it was a great opportunity to add someone with her skillset. She is a tall, versatile guard who has the ability to shoot the three and impact the game in so many different ways with her length. She comes from incredible high school and AAU programs, playing for Dante Harlan, who I have known for a long time and have a great relationship with. She is a high-academic kid who will be a great fit for our program both on and off the court."
"I chose Michigan because it gives me a unique opportunity to play basketball and pursue my academic interests, both at the highest level," Hobbs said. "I know the coaching staff will push me to be a better player and person. I also love the campus, Ann Arbor and the culture of the team."
Hobbs, a 6-foot-1 guard from Springboro, Ohio, averaged 17.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game as a senior to help Springboro to a district championship. A two-time all-state second team selection and first-team All-Southwest Ohio honoree, Hobbs scored a game-high 26 points on 10-for-17 shooting with 11 boards in the 2021 district championship game. As a junior, she averaged 14.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game en route to second-team all-state honors. Hobbs played AAU for the Cincinnati Angels.
Hobbs joins the recruiting class of Taylor Gibson, Laila Phelia and Ari Wiggins for the 2021-22 season.
