ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team released its 18-game 2021 schedule on Thursday (July 15), which features 10 matches at U-M Soccer Stadium.
After playing a conference-only 2020-21 schedule due to COVID-19, the Wolverines will play eight non-conference contests before opening their Big Ten Conference slate.
U-M first will play a pair of exhibition contests against Northwestern in Evanston (Aug. 9) before hosting Virginia on Aug. 14.
The Wolverines will open the regular season with a road contest at Butler on Aug. 19.
Michigan will return to U-M Soccer Stadium on Aug. 22 to host Bowling Green as part of a five-game home stretch with matches against Western Michigan (Aug. 26), Central Michigan (Aug. 29), USC (Sept. 3) and a Sunday afternoon match against DePaul (Sept. 5).
Michigan's contest against BGSU will be the annual Pups at the Pitch match, and fans are invited to bring their dog to the game. U-M also will host its second Pride Day against WMU, celebrating all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer social and self-acceptance. The final home non-conference weekend will be filled with promotional deals as the USC contest is Dollar Day, with $1 general admission tickets and $1 select concession items, while the match against DePaul is Football Ticket Redemption Day, when a ticket from the Sept. 4 Michigan vs. Western Michigan football game will get fans into the contest for free.
The Maize and Blue hit the road for its final two regular-season non-conference contests with a Friday-night contest against Louisville (Sept. 10) and concluding the weekend at Cincinnati on Sunday, Sept. 12.
Michigan opens its conference schedule Friday, Sept. 17, against Illinois, and the Wolverines will celebrate the careers of their seniors prior to the contest.
Following a road match at Rutgers (Sept. 23) and a home contest against Wisconsin (Sept. 26), U-M hits the road for three straight contests, concluding the month of September at Purdue on Sept. 30 before opening October at Indiana (Oct. 3) and at Nebraska (Oct. 10).
The Wolverines will play their four final regular-season matches in October, three of which are at home, starting with in-state foe Michigan State (Oct. 14) and concluding the regular season at U-M Soccer Stadium against Maryland (Oct. 24). U-M fans are asked to wear blue for the match against the Spartans as Michigan looks to Blue Out U-M Soccer Stadium.
The Maize and Blue will look to earn a spot in the Big Ten Conference Tournament with dates and time to be announced.
