
Johnson, Power Invited to Hockey Canada Camp

CALGARY, Alberta -- Kent Johnson and Owen Power of the University of Michigan ice hockey team have been selected to attend Canada's National Junior Team summer development camp it was announced by Hockey Canada on Wednesday (July 21).
"Definitely an honor to be named to the roster," Johnson said. "It's a tournament I've wanted to play in for a long time now, so I'm excited to have the opportunity to earn my spot."
Johnson has elected to attend the camp, to be held July 28-Aug. 4 in Tsuut'ina Nation near Calgary, while Power will not attend.
The 2021 NHL Draft-eligible Wolverines are the only two NCAA players to be extended invitations from Hockey Canada.
The eight-day camp will include on- and off-ice sessions, and will feature combined practices and intrasquad games with players attending the U18 Camp.
All 50 players selected, the camp will provide the first step for the upcoming season and the opportunity to compete at the World Juniors. The 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship will be held Dec. 26, 2021, to Jan. 5, 2022, in Edmonton and Red Deer.
Seven Michigan skaters have been part of Canadian World Junior rosters, and all seven earned medals.
