ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan director of strength and conditioning Mike Favre has been named Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the College Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa) at the 2021 National Conference, held at the Fort Worth Omni Hotel in Texas.
Favre is the fourth U-M strength and condition coach to earn the honor, joining Russell Barbarino, Jon Sanderson and Jason Cole.
"This is an incredible honor for Michael," said CSCCa chief executive officer Scott Bennett. "Being named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach signifies a commitment to the student athlete, the University of Michigan athletic program, and the strength and conditioning profession. We are honored to have Coach Favre as a member of our association and to have him join the ranks of the Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches. He is truly a model of an outstanding strength and conditioning professional."
Favre, the 2011 NSCA College Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year, is in his 13th year as the director of strength and conditioning for Olympic Sports at Michigan, where he oversees the strength and conditioning services for all sport programs. Favre manages a staff of eight full-time coaches, two S&C fellows and volunteer interns. He also is the strength and conditioning coach for men's tennis, volleyball and wrestling.
The title of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach (MSCC) is the highest honor in the field and is given to those who represent professionalism, knowledge, experience and expertise, as well as longevity in the field. To be eligible for this award, an individual must have been a full-time strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate and/or professional level for at least 12 years, an active CSCCa member and must be a certified strength and conditioning coach by the CSCCa.
