The University of Michigan men's basketball team (7-6, 1-3 Big Ten) battles intrastate rival No. 10-ranked Michigan State (13-2, 4-0 Big Ten) on Saturday (Jan. 8) at Crisler Center in a Maize Out game. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Fox with Joe Davis (play-by-play) and Jim Jackson (analyst) on the call. Saturday's game is the first of two matchups with MSU this season, as the Wolverines will make a trip to the Breslin Center on Saturday, Jan. 29.

What Else You Need to Know
• Michigan's game against No. 10 Michigan State will be the first for U-M this season against a ranked opponent. The Wolverines have played the 17th toughest schedule this season.
• Saturday's game against MSU is a "Maize Out." Fans are encouraged to dress in maize to show support for the Wolverines.
• The Wolverines start one of their toughest stretches of games, during which they will play host to No. 10 Michigan State (Jan. 8) and No. 3 Purdue (Jan. 11), then hit the road for Illinois (Jan. 14).
• Hunter Dickinson leads U-M in scoring (16.1) and rebounding (8.0). He has 11 double-figure scoring games with a team-best four games of 20 points or more, including a season-best 27 against Buffalo (Nov. 10) in the season opener.
• Dickinson leads U-M with six games of 10+ rebounds, and a team-best five double-doubles. He has posted four straight -- San Diego State (23 points, 14 rebounds), at Nebraska (15, 12), Minnesota (19, 10) and Southern Utah (22, 10). Dickinson also has grabbed 10+ rebounds in five of his last eight games.
• In 28 games last season, Dickinson had 25 total assists. This season (13 games), he has already matched that total, which includes a career-best-tying four against Seton Hall (Nov. 16). He has six games of 3+ assists.
• Dickinson has posted a team-best four games with 10+ field goals and is shooting 59.1 percent from the field. He had 11 (Buffalo), 10 (San Diego State), 11 (Southern Utah) and 10 (at Rutgers).
• Eli Brooks is second on the team with 12.9 points per game, scoring in double figures in 12 of 13 games.
• DeVante' Jones has made seven of his 11 three-pointers over his last three games.
• Eli Brooks (24), Caleb Houstan (20) and DeVante' Jones (11) have made 55 of U-M's 87 three-pointers (63 percent).
• Caleb Houstan (4.5 rpg) has grabbed 44 of his 59 rebounds over his last seven games.
• This season, Eli Brooks has gone 24-for-27 (.889) from the free-throw line and is 64-for-71 (.901) over the last two seasons. For his career, Brooks is an 80 percent free-throw shooter (.808; 110-for-136).
• Right behind Brooks is Caleb Houstan, who is 24-for-30 (.800) from the charity stripe.
• DeVante' Jones leads Michigan in assists with 50 (3.8 per game). He had a season-best eight assists at Nebraska (Dec. 7) and versus UNLV (Nov. 19) at the Roman Main Event in Las Vegas.
• Moussa Diabate, who is second on the team with 6.1 boards per game, has had nine games with 5+ rebounds -- including his last four games. He had his first 10+ board game with 13 against Minnesota (Dec. 11).
• Hunter Dickinson (13) and Moussa Diabate (10) have 23 of Michigan's 39 blocks (59 percent).
The Michigan State Spartans
• One of the hottest teams in the nation, Michigan State comes to Ann Arbor riding an eight-game win streak. The Spartans are 13-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the Big Ten -- leading the league with Ohio State (3-0) and Illinois (3-0).
• Michigan State's two losses were at the hands of No. 6 Kansas in the season-opening Champions Classic and versus No. 1 Baylor in the championship of the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Spartans have played the 16th toughest schedule.
• The Spartans have played three true road games and are 3-0 -- at Butler (73-52), at Minnesota (75-67) and at Northwestern (73-67).
• MSU is led by senior forward Marcus Bingham Jr., who averages 10.5 points and a team-best 7.8 rebounds. He adds 39 blocks (2.7), which is third in the Big Ten and 23rd nationally.
• Fellow senior forward Gabe Brown has used his team-best 37 three-pointers to post a team-best 14.5 points per game. He has posted double-figures in 14 of 15 games, with two games of 20+ points, including a season-high 24 against High Point, when he knocked down six triples. He adds 4.5 rebounds per game.
• Highly touted freshman guard Max Christie has posted three straight double-figure scoring games to boost his season average to 10.4 per game. In his last game he had a career-best 21 against Nebraska. He blends in 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
• Northeastern transfer Tyson Walker averages 6.7 points per game, while adding a team-best 78 assists (5.2 apg). Coming off the bench, sophomore guard A.J. Hoggard mirrors Walker's 6.7 points a game, and adds 66 assists (4.4 apg).
• Michigan State averages 75.8 points (+10.3 vs. opponents), with 40.9 rebounds and 16.9 assists per game. With 95 blocks (6.3 bpg), MSU ranks second in the nation.
• Tom Izzo, who is now in his 27th season coaching the Spartans, has a 24-14 record against Michigan. Under Izzo, Michigan State has captured two national championships and 16 conference championships, while also leading the series against every conference opponent.

• Michigan and Michigan State have played 194 games, with the Wolverines leading 108-86 in the all-time series.
• U-M has a 69-31 record in Ann Arbor, with the Wolverines winning seven of the last 11 meetings.
