Big Ten Sportsmanship Award -- Tom Brady was named Michigan's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree following the 2023 Big Ten outdoor championships, where he won the 10,000-meter race. The award honors athletes who exhibit phenomenal performance and sportsmanship throughout the meet. » Big Ten Release
Nick Foster (Feb. 8)
Big Ten Track Co-Athlete of the Week -- Senior Nick Foster was named the Big Ten Track Co-Athlete of the Week, sharing the honor with Wisconsin's Lawrence Johnson. The honor is the second for Foster this season, with the first coming Jan. 12. At the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational last weekend (Feb 3-4), he set a career best in the mile (3:56.89), a near two-second improvement on his previous best and one second behind the school record of 3:55.11, set by Nate Brannen in 2005. Joshua Zeller (Jan. 25)
Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week -- Senior Joshua Zeller set a meet and facility record in the 60 meter hurdles on Saturday (Jan. 21) at Simmons-Harvey Invitational. With a time of 7.69, Zeller ranks first in the Big Ten and third in the NCAA for the event. It marks his first career Big Ten Athlete of the Week award. » Big Ten Release
Nick Foster, Zane Foster (Jan. 12)
Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week -- Senior Nick Foster ran a career-best in the 1,000 meters on Saturday (Jan. 7) at the Wolverine Invitational. With a time of 2:22.35, he finished fourth in a race dominated by pro runners. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week -- Freshman Zane Forist had a series of strong performances in his collegiate debut on Saturday (Jan. 7) at the Wolverine Invitational. In the shot put, he threw 17.76 meters (58 feet, 3.25 inches) to win the event. Forist also finished fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 18.11 meters (59-5). » Big Ten Release
