ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Seniors Sammi Woods and Stephanie Sparkowski, junior Avery Kalitta and freshmen Gabrielle Prych and Lilley Bosley of the University of Michigan women's soccer team received All-Big Ten accolades, the conference announced Friday (Oct. 27).
Woods earned a spot on the All-Big Ten third team, as she leads the Wolverines offensive unit with eight goals and an assist for 17 points. The eight goals rank No. 7 in the conference, and she boasts a pair of multi-goal games against Western Michigan (Sept. 10) and Maryland (Oct. 1). Additionally, she leads the squad in shots with 33 and has a team-best shooting percentage of 24 percent. She previously earned all-freshman honors in 2020.
Kalitta joined Woods on the third team as she started all 17 matches with 1,366 minutes played, and her 18 shots rank sixth on the team. She also ranks at the top of the league in numerous advanced statistics, coming in at No. 1 in the BIg Ten in duels won and defensive duels won and ranking second in ball recoveries, passes completed, and total smart passes. The honor is the second of her career after earning a freshman team nod in 2021.
Prych finished the regular season second on the squad in goals (five), points (14), and is tied for first on the team in assists with four. Her five goals are tied for third most amongst freshman in the conference, while the 14 points are third amongst her classmates. She also marked a trio of match-winning goals against Boston College (Aug. 31), at Notre Dame (Sept. 7) and at Northwestern (Sept. 21).
Bosley earned a spot as a midfielder on the all-freshman team. Having featured in all 17 matches, she boasts 11 starting nods and solidified her role as a key cog in the U-M midfield during Big Ten play. She owns 20 shots on the year with eight coming on goal and has played the full 90 in a pair of Big Ten matchups.
Sparkowski was named U-M's Sportsmanship Award honoree. A revelation for U-M in goal during the campaign, she earned the starting spot in goal after overcoming multiple injuries as an underclassman and is enrolled in U-M's college of engineering.
The East Meadow, N.Y., native ranks second in the conference in total saves (79) as well as saves per game (4.65) and third in save percentage (81 percent). She has established a new career high in saves on multiple occasions, highlighted by nine stops against Western Michigan on Sept. 10, and had clean sheets in six of the first nine matches of the season.
The Wolverines will learn of their postseason at-large fate during the NCAA Tournament selection show on Monday (Nov. 6) at 4 p.m. on NCAA.com.
