Team Highlights
• The Wolverines shut out a pair of ranked opponents, holding a the high-powered offenses of then-No. 9 Akron and then-No. 19 Michigan State to no goals in scoreless draws at U-M Soccer Stadium.
• U-M posted six shutouts on the season, including back-to-back blankings of against Northwestern.
• Michigan earned the No. 5 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, where it shut out Northwestern in a quarterfinal match before falling 4-3 to Indiana in the semifinals.
• Head coach Chaka Daley started at least four freshmen in all 18 games this season with Will Baker starting 17 and Matthew Fisher starting 16 on the backline.
• The Wolverines used points from 14 different players this season, including nine different goal scorers with seven players recording two goals or more.




Individual Highlights
• Freshman Alex Waggoner paced the Wolverines offense in his first year on the pitch as he recorded 12 points with a team-best six goals. His six goals, half of which were game-winners, ranked fourth in the Big Ten as he appeared in all 18 matches with 12 starts. The Santa Fe, N.M., native tallied 1,260 minutes of playing time and put 20 shots on frame. Waggoner was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week after scoring in back-to-back games and was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Midseason Freshman Top 100 list.
• Senior Bryce Blevins was named the captain of the 2023 squad and was one of just two Wolverines to start all 18 matches. Blevins ranked second on the team with 11 points (four goals, three assists) and tallied 1,440 minutes on the pitch. The midfielder earned second team All-Big Ten honors.
• Sophomore Nolan Miller was an anchor to the backline as he joined Blevins as the only U-M players to start all 18 matches and as a second team All-Big Ten honoree. Miller paced Michigan with 1,615 minutes and helped U-M to six shutouts.
• Joining Miller on the backline was the freshmen pair of Baker and Fisher, who appeared in 17 matches with 17 and 16 starts, respectively. Fisher was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.
Freshman Isaiah Goldson appeared in 14 matches with 13 starts between the pipes for Michigan, collecting five shutouts, four wins and five ties. The keeper ranked third in the Big Ten with 3.34 saves per game. Goldson made 49 saves with a career-best seven saves at Maryland and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and the TopDrawerSoccer.com Midseason Freshman Top 100 list.
