
Voit Named To D1Baseball Freshman All-America Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan baseball third baseman/pitcher Mitch Voit was named a second team Freshman All-American by D1Baseball as a utility player, the publication announced Friday (June 30).
Earlier this season, Voit was named a member of the All-Big Ten Freshman Team and All-Big Ten Tournament Team. He started 51 games at third base, hitting .267 with seven home runs and 32 RBI. Voit's seven homers were second on the team and fifth most by a Michigan freshman since 1960. He also contributed on the mound with a team-low earned-run average of 3.25 with 25 strikeouts across 36 innings. Voit took to the the mound as a starter for the first time in his career in the Big Ten Tournament and pitched 5.2 innings, allowing just two runs and six hits with five strikeouts.
Voit is the first Wolverine to earn D1Baseball freshman honors since Jesse Franklin and Ben Dragani both earned second-team nods in 2018.
