ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association and Pocock Racing Shells announced All-America teams on Thursday (July 13), and the University of Michigan rowing program was represented by three honorees. Zara Collisson was named a first-team selection while Abigail Dent and Katie Easton both earned second-team honors.
For Dent (honorable mention, 2022), this marked her second time being named to the All-America team. For both Collisson and Easton, this honor is the first of their careers.
All three were part of U-M's 1V8 during the season, especially in the postseason when they helped lead the team to a Big Ten Championship with a gold-medal effort. All three athletes were part of the NCAA Championship lineup that outperformed its seed with a ninth-place finish in New Jersey.
Collisson has been a presence in U-M's first eight her whole career and rowed from the fourth and sixth seats this spring. An international record-holder (U-23 world championships), the Aussie brought her best this year to help bring the speed out of the Michigan 1V8. She is a two-time Big Ten gold medalist (2021 2V8, '23 1V8).
Dent has been a top contributor for U-M's varsity eight, rowing between the fourth and sixth seats during most of the season, but she has stroked the Wolverines' top boat during the postseason, bringing the boat into its top form. The Kenora, Ontario, Canada, native is Michigan's program record-holder on the erg. She is a two-time Big Ten gold medalist (2021 2V8, '23 1V8) and now a two-time All-American.
Easton has been rowing in U-M's 1V8 since the postseason of her freshman year and the Melbourne, Australia, native was a steady presence in U-M's fifth/seventh seats this spring. Her consistency has been a key to U-M's speed all year. Easton has medaled twice with the 1V8 at the Big Ten Championships (2022, silver; 2023, gold).
