ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan football team was outperformed in all facets in its 38-17 loss to the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks Saturday (Nov. 2) at Michigan Stadium.

The Michigan offense (263 total yards) was buoyed by Colston Loveland, who set a career high with 112 receiving yards over seven catches. Davis Warren threw a pair of touchdown passes (seven, six yards) in his 12-for-21, 164-yard day.

The Maize and Blue defense allowed 470 total yards and conversions on 10-of-15 third downs. Ernest Hausmann led in tackles (10), while Wesley Walker put together a career-best effort, recording seven stops.

After falling behind by a touchdown within the game's first nine minutes, the Wolverines turned momentum in their direction with a special teams turnover. Joe Taylor forced a fumble on a Ducks punt return which was recovered by C.J. Charleston at the Oregon 28-yard line. Michigan capitalized on its starting field position with a seven-yard rollout touchdown connection between Warren and a sprawling Tyler Morris.

Oregon entered a run of 14 unanswered points (one- and six-yard rushing touchdowns) in the game's second quarter. U-M added to its score with a 38-yard field goal by Dominic Zvada, which was set up by a pair of long catches by Loveland (18 and 36 yards) to bring the game's score to 21-10. The Ducks were able to find the scoreboard once more before heading to halftime on a 23-yard rushing touchdown by quarterback Dillon Gabriel.

After forcing a three-and-out on the first drive of the second half, Michigan marched down the field for a 10-play scoring drive which ended with a six-yard touchdown pass from Warren to Peyton O'Leary. Loveland added two more long gains with 34- and 20-yard receptions to set his career-best receiving mark.

The Wolverines were unable to find the scoreboard again and allowed 17 points in the game's final 22 minutes to close the game with a 38-17 final score.

Michigan returns to the road to take on Indiana next Saturday (Nov. 9) in Bloomington, Ind. Kickoff time is set for 3:30 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on CBS.
